About the service
The SCVO HR Service supports you with your HR needs.
We understand the challenges of working in the voluntary sector and have experience in supporting organisations through difficult situations, including redundancies, and changing terms and conditions.
Our resources include everything you need from recruiting your first member of staff, to developing your job descriptions and drafting an employment contract through to onboarding and beyond.
Our policies and guides include all the statutory requirements plus everything you need to be a good employer including guides to hybrid working, performance management and wellbeing.
Our 1-to-1 advice service subscription lets you speak to one of our team who really understand your challenges and who know the voluntary sector. We’re here at the end of the phone, by video call or email when you need us.

Caroline Christie
Hello! I’m Caroline.
I’ve worked in HR for over 20 years and in the voluntary sector for around 18 years. Setting up an HR Service for the voluntary sector has been an ambition for SCVO and myself for some time and we are very happy to be able to offer our sector quality HR support and advice for a reasonable cost.
I'm a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, I’m proud to be a long-standing member of the HR Voluntary Sector Forum (a network of HR professionals) and more recently joining the Living Wage Scotland Leadership Group. Hello! I’m Lorna.
I've been with SCVO for almost 6 years and in HR for 10 years, starting my career in retail management, learning and development, and specialising in change management. I'm an Associate member of the CIPD as well. I love this profession and especially working within the voluntary sector, where we're able to make a meaningful impact to hundreds of organisations across Scotland.
Launching the HR service back in 2020 was exciting, but now I can look back and see how important it was and continues to be.
